Will Hasek or Osgood Start for the wings for the 08-09 season?

There is a good chance that Hasek will retire after this year. As a result, Osgood will be the number one starter with Jimmy Howard as the back up next season.

Detroit might pick up a goalie from Free Agency during the off season as well.

Hasek is a FA after this season, chances are he retires or the wings do not resign him.

Look for the wings to sign a FA goalie in the offseason. If not, its gonna be Osgood starting most games with Howard getting a few.

Hasek will be gone, its evident in his not playing right now. I do not think he will come back as a back-up, which is the only way for him to remain a Wing. Ozzy is signed for 3 more years, he is not going anywhere.

The Wings will have Ozzy mentor Jimmy Howard and a guy named Daniel (?) Larsson (draft choice) was signed to a deal to play in Grand Rapids next year. He is considered the best Swedish goalie prospect at this time.

With the way that Osgood is playing in the playoffs and the way Howard played when called up earlier in the year, I doubt that the Wings will resign Hasek and no other team will touch him, so he will either retire or go play in Europe.  Osgood will likely get a majority of the starts, but I believe Howard is good enough to steal the job.  

However, the Wings also have a promising Swede prospect in Daniel Larsson who won the rookie of the year honors for the Swedish Elite League and he has the potential to steal a job in camp, though it is more likely he will be the starter for Grand Rapids next year

im thinking maybe Osgood will start becuase his coach left him in the last time the Wings and Stars played and he is a really good goalie but maybe Hasek will start off, im actually not sure now that i think about it.

I don't think Hasek will even be with Detroit in 08-09.

Osgood has shown his worth.  Hasek is done.  He still is a quality goaltender, but he is just not worth wasting the roster space.  Howard needs NHL duty.  Osgood will be the number 1 guy next year.  Hasek knows his days are over, he retires.  He just won't stay healthy enough for the stretch run.
