Die Knappen are certainly in the race to win this year’s Bundesliga title but whether they be able to retain two of their most prolific strikers beyond next season remains the question.
Huub Stevens’ Schalke are currently sitting fourth on the table and find themselves one point behind Bayern Munich. They are five points adrift of current leaders, Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga could go down to the wire with
as many as four sides contending for the honours.
A lot of Die Knappen players are being linked to leave the club at the end of the season with some of the best sides in Europe showing interest. Schalke strikers, Raul Hernandez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175, have been heavily linked
with respective moves away from Veltins-Arena in the summer transfer window.
The futures of both the attackers have been under widespread speculation in the past few months with Schalke bosses trying their best to retain the duo beyond the summer transfer window. Raul’s one year contract will end at the
end of the current campaign, whereas Huntelaar still has a year left on his current deal.
Club sporting director, Horst Heldt, has insisted that negotiations with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 will begin anytime before the season ends whereas Huntelaar is certain to stay.
Raul is apparently unhappy with is wage amount, while Huntelaar’s future depends on the Spaniard’s stay at the Veltins-Arena. Both the players, though, have not revealed their intentions but it seems that it will be a tough task
to keep the prolific duo at the club.
According to reports, Schalke tried to sell Jefferson Farfan in the January transfer window to retain their prized-assets but the move could not capitalize as the Peruvian took the option of staying. Farfan has been a prolific
contributor to the club’s success and despite his affection for the Royal Blues, it is believed that he will be sold in the summer which would allow Schalke to bag a handful amount.
One assumes that Huub Stevens and his supporting staff are well aware of the consequences, but they are hesitant in revealing their plans to the unhappy duo. But, will Farfan’s transfer be enough to retain both Raul and Huntelaar
at the club who have already showed concerns over the possible new deals.
On the other hand, Huntelaar will run out of contract next year, but has already refused to extend his deal at the club citing the lack of match winners. The Dutchman is certain of Raul’s departure this season and feels that the
club might not be able to perform well in the absence of the experienced Spaniard.
The Dutch international is keen on plying his trade in the English Premier League in the next season and wants to continue his goalscoring form with a bigger club. The player has concerns over Schalke’s ability to challenge for
major trophies in the future and sees this summer as a perfect time to leave.
Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues will be able to convince both Raul and Huntelaar on their stay at the club unless the club makes an improved offer for the unhappy duo. One thing is for sure that if Raul departs
in the summer than Huntelaar is certain to follow the footsteps of his strike partner.
