Will I be OK with a 161cm , 260mm Wide Snowboard?

I am looking at buying a 161cm length and 260mm width Ride Fleetwood board. I have UK11 size feet (no boots yet), am about 5"8 and weight 75-80kg.....

I think my ideal length is 159 however this board ticks all the boxes and is on sale.... Is that extra 2cm a big issue or can I get away with it ? and is the width ok for my feet?

I will probably get the Ride EX XL bindings to go with it and then start looking for boots....

Thanks

  1. the board should be ok with your feet, and the 2 cm difference is not that of a big deal, however if it's longer it's harder to control but you can keep your balance better but the 2 cm aren't a problem, i'm about the same hight as u and i have boarded on 1.56 1.59 and 1.62 and it wasn't a sensible difference between the 1.59 and 1.52 but i could feel it from the 1.56 to the 1.62

  2. I think you can do it dude. Try it :) Good Luck

  3. It'd be a good idea to buy your boots and bindings first. If you have big feet, you might need an extra wide board to accommodate your feet. It's best make sure your feet aren't overlapping the edge too much or you'll get drag.

A 161 should have enough width, but it's best to check it out. The 2cm difference shouldn't make that much of a difference. I've ridden a 140 a 151and a 153 and haven't really noticed the difference. If your style is freeride as opposed to freestyle it should be fine. If you're a park man, go for a shorter board.
