Mechatronics is the combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and software engineering. The purpose of this interdisciplinary engineering field is the study of automata from an engineering perspective and serves the purposes of controlling advanced hybrid systems. Mechatronics principles have led to the creation of a wide range of devices, such as antilock brakes, automotive emission controls, artificial hearts, automated brewery controls, photocopiers, autofocus cameras, vending machines, DVD players, computer hard drives, automated windshield wipers, moisture-sensitive dryers, haptic virtual reality simulators, and, of course, robots. Future applications include sophisticated artificial limbs that interface with the wearer's nervous system and camless combustion engines that drastically increase fuel efficiency. mechatronic engineering would involve mathematics, mechanics, machine component design, mechanical design, thermodynamics, power engineering, robotics.

  1. You can apply Mechatronics to just about anything.

The only limit is your imagination.

  2. Of course you will. Seems like a rather silly question when you pretty much answered it in your details section. In all of those cases you will need to interface computer control with mechanical manipulation.
