I bought a bike with 700x25 wheels but I want to buy these other 700x35 tires for when I go touring, will they fit? The bike is listed with BONTRAGER SELECT 700X25-622 TIRES and I would like to replace them with Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tire 700 x 35C Wire / 890G. Im pretty much an idiot when it comes to bikes so help please!

  1. As long as your frame and brakes have clearance for them.   The only way is to measure.  A 35mm tire will be approximately 35mm wide and 35mm tall.  Measure the width of the openings of the frame where the wheel goes through.  Then measure the width of the opening where the tire (not the rim) goes through the brakes.  You will probably need at least 38mm to be safe.  If those measure up take your tire off the rim and reinstall it on the bike.  Measure the distance from the top of the rim's sidewalls to the top of the brake and then the brake bridge on the frame.  Do not forget to measure the distance from the top of the rim to any part of the frame the tire might contact.  My guess is that you probably won't be able to use a tire larger than 700X28C.

  2. Much depends on the bike frame too.  I'd call a bike shop, tell them what kind of bike it is, and let them advise you.  Also, a tire that wide will make touring a bit of a chore, as they have higher rolling resistance than thinner tires.  My bike has 700 x 32 and they are great.  Big enough to resist punctures, but small enough to not feel like a mountain bike tire.

  3. It depends on what kind of bike it is.  Since the bike came with 25's, its unlikely it could take 35s.....but its possible if its a cyclocross bike or touring bike, not a pure road bike.

  4. What kind of bike.  35's might fit if the bike came with 25's but it all depends on the bike and brake type.  If there is lots of room between the 25's when you release the brakes to remove the tire they might fit.  If the bike is for cyclocross they will fit, but it all depends on the bike and what kind of brakes it has.
