  1. >Will I be able to use a VCR next year?

    Yes you will.

No, it's not the TVs that are changing; it's the type of signals used to send over the air (OTA) signals that is changing.

Satellite and cable systems are not changing on 2/17/09, just most over the air broadcasts (OTA) that you receive with an antenna.

Even if you want to want to use a VCR to record OTA broadcasts after next Feb, all you need is a converter box to attach between your antenna and your VCR. You can use one converter for both a VCR and an analog TV

If you want to record one channel while watching another on an old analog TV, you would need two converters.

You have to set whatever channel you want to see on the converter box, so you won't be able to program channel changes on your VCR.

  2. yeah you can

  3. Look here for converters: http://www.hdtv.jdanswers.com

    Some accept the government coupon.

  4. That only refers to the broadcast signal......digital equipment will be required to receive television signals.

But if you still want to use a TV as a stand alone device hooked up to an existing DVD or VCR then you can.

  5. Yes you still will be able to use your VCR.
