Will I be arrested for punching two PETA members?

I work downtown Chicago. I was on a smoke break and saw a group of people surrouding a women and being pretty agressive so it got my attention. I then saw them throw blood or at least some fake blood stuff on her.

I started running over there to stop them and a guy started comming towards me, I hit him. One of the women he was with then came at me and I punched her square in the nose and she was out cold. The cops came and everyone ran except for the women knocked out.

They asked me and the women who's aid I came to what happened. I wasn't arrested but they took my name and id and the Peta women was taken to the hospital.

Am I okay since they let me go or could they come back and arrest me later?

If they file a police report and charge you with assault you will be arrested naturally. YOU SAID YOU WERE TAUGHT not to hit women but here you are hitting one right in the face? So where is the wisdom of the teaching if you will not follow it anyway.

YES MAYBE IF a man would come running at you, you will hit him flat on the face but even if a woman run towards you what can a woman do much except scratch you on the face with her fingernails or punch you with not so much force.

SO THROW away your teachings regarding not hitting back on women. JUST PLACE YOUR MIND ON HITTING everybody men, women or even children coming at you. That way we will believe everything you say.

That's iffy. You're a man. She's a woman. Even though they were assaulting a woman, they could argue you could have handled her differently. How many there were might be a factor. Hope you got the other woman's information.

I don't know, but you should be. It will likely depend on whether the woman you hit decides to press charges. Since it seems like you were the one who initiated it (from your telling, you threw the first punch) you should face charges.

You don't seem to be very smart. How do you know they were PETA members? Were they carrying around their donation receipts?

Frankly, I have nothing but disgust for people like you. You are going to knock a woman out for "coming at you"?  Again, going by your description, it sounds like you were the one who threw the first punch. I do not know how things will happen. The woman you beat up may not decide to press any charges, but she seems to be within her legal and moral rights to do so.

You are probably OK as long as it is emphasized that you came to the aid of someone who was being attacked.

While I applaud the abuse of PETA activists, dude, I can't believe you hit a girl.  Not too cool...

Those you struck physically can lawfully accuse you of battery. That depends on the person you physically harmed pressing charges. If you are accused and can make a clear case of self or other defense, you may not be convicted. In any case, it is a criminal act to commit violence against another person unless you are defending yourself or another person.

Possibly, if she wants to press charges. Start looking for witnesses to back you up.

Next time stuff their mouths full of raw hamburger also
