If I get a better job then my commute time will be a little bit longer. Will I be unhappy with an additional 20minutes of driving per day? Will my vehicle deteriorate faster?

  1. If this trip involves a lot of stop-and-go driving, then yes, your car will deteriorate faster.  If it's pretty much a straight shot on the freeway, then your car will not suffer significantly in comparison to your previous commute.

As for whether you will be unhappy or not, only you can figure that one out.

  2. Which ever job pays more.

  3. That extra two miles won't be too bad. Just bring some music with you. Your car won't have a problem with it unless you're driving on a dirt road or over rail crossings constantly.

Just be glad you don't have my 95 mile one way drive to work. :)

  4. 36 minutes is not a long drive

  5. Only you can answer that question.  Take into account traffic patterns on the new route.  Are there lots of backups or problems?  I'd say if you enjoy the job, the 20 additional minutes per day will be time well spent.
