I go to school and 12 credit hours is considered full time. I started the semester with 12 credit hours and if I withdrawal from a class leaving me with 9 credits will I still be covered by my parents health insurance? When I sent my schedule to the insurance company it said I was enrolled in 12 credit hours. Thanks!

  1. Well, the insurance company wouldn't know if you changed from Full time to Part time unless you either told them or you got injuried and incured costly medical fees, in which case they may investigate. If they found out you were part time, they might not cover you. Part of it depends on how old you are too. So I think it's a bit of a risk - why not just replace the class you are removing with another 3 credit course? if that's no good and your insurance won't cover you, some schools you can buy greatly discounted insurance even if you're part time.

  2. it depends on what the policy states--some state full time is 9+ hrs, some state it's 12+ hrs.  technically--they can drop you if they find out, do you have to send them proof at the end of the term that you completed the semester?  if so, you're screwed.
