  1. Listen to Dexter, the others are way off.  Especially the "agent".  Specific "life events" entitle you to immediately enroll, like marriage, birth of a child, and spouse's loss of coverage.  It is possible that the effective date of coverage is the first day of the month after you get around to signing up, so don't wait.

  2. yes you can if he filled up the forms, it's up to him if he put the name of the beneficiaries like you and if you have childrens he can also put it. but some husbands i known they don't put the name of their family instead of their wife they put the name of their mother and father. so find out what your husband did to the forms.

  3. It does depend on the plan, but there are certain situations that can come up were you will be covered form day one of signing up.

    1) if you are a newly wed you have an x (not sure exactly) amount of time to submit paperwork and you are covered from day1 and you do not need to wait for open enrollment.

    2) Newborns are covered from day 1, do not have to wait for open enrollment

    3) If you are married and you have your own insurance covered by another employer, and your employment is terminated either by you or them, then you and dependents listed on that program can enroll and be covered from day1.

  4. It depends on the particular group plan - your husband has to find out the details.

  5. Is "him" your husband?  If he is, you can be added.  If you didn't have prior coverage for 12 months, any pre-existing conditions can be subject to a waiting period.
