I'm in college and I got a "D" in American Literature. It is a required class for a bachelor's degree. Will I have to re-take it?

  1. Most schools require at least a C. If its a class you need to graduate you need to take it over. Check with your advisor. i am sure you will need to take it over though. I know it sucks...in hs a D is the lowest passing grade, in college a C is the lowest, in grad school a B is the lowest, etc. Good luck. i know college is tough and sometimes long but it will be done with before you know it:)

  2. A "D " in college is almost the same level as a 65 in High School, while it's probably not required that you take it over, it would probably be recommended you do because a D looks really ugly on your college transcript. If you retake it, your average will go back up as the D will be replaced, you won't get double credit for it though.

  3. Read your university's graduation requirements for the exact answer but generally speaking the answer is most likely, yes.

  4. d is still a passing grade

  5. Your college has a Catalog, read the policy regarding grades and your major.  Most will require you to have a C or higher.  Some schools may require you to have a B or higher.

  6. D's normally will not transfer but in some cases they will work for your current school. Just check with your university...only they will know that answer.
