Question:

Will I be wasting my time with my noodles?

My noodles are floury and thick. Are they going to cook up ok? I made noodles for only the second time in my life, and they are super thick and floury. Is it a waste to cook these up? I thought they would taste better a little thicker, but forgot to knead it for a while!

  1. Why don't you cook them to see how they turn out ? It wont take much time or effort to cook them in case they are alright and would be better than just throwing out the raw noodles.

  2. Pasta dough is pretty forgiving - especially when you cook them in liquid.  Today's thicker floury noodles sound a bit like standard "dumplings"  This batch might be best in a stew or soup, than used as a side dish, or with tomato sauce.

Go ahead and cook them.  Every mistake or misstep is a learning adventure for next time

Good for you to make your own!

  3.           Yes well cook it wisely!

  4. Moo,

You might consider just boiling them carefully in a nicely seasoned chicken broth or stock.  My husband likes thick noodles in a richly seasoned chicken broth.  Toss in diced onions and minced carrots and minced celery into even broth cubes and water and it is a delicious way to liven up your second adventure with learning to make homemade pasta.

I bet you and your friends will too!

  5. It took me more than 2 tries to get my noodles thinner and less floury, but the thicker ones tasted just fine.  In fact, my husband prefers them thicker.  :)

  6. Sounds like you made dumplings instead of noodles.Boil some chicken,Throw in those chubby noodles, and viola' ,CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS
