  1. With other atheists, maybe. With religous folks, I doubt it.

You really shouldn't choose your core beliefs or lack of beliefs based on whether or not you'll become more popular...but then based on this question, it seems you've chosen to worship a god named Popularity.

  2. Only if that is what the trend is where you are. I suggest you become what you were meant to be without conforming to society's standards of religion or non-religion.

  3. no.just no. If you are willing to change your religion just to be popular, you have a problem.

  4. Only if you start smoking too.

  5. No. Quite the contrary, atheists are generally reviled and detested by the rest of the "believing" society.  Throughout ancient and modern history, it has always been popular to believe in the supernatural occurrences as they play to humans' most primitive instincts (love, fear, rage, etc.).  Regardless, one should never base his or her overall outlook based on what is "cool" but rather after intense rationalization of his or her preconceived notions with real-world situations.

Secularism is merely the absence of religious influence within governmental institutions.  One can still adhere to his/her religious beliefs without imposing them onto others against their will.

  6. Absolutely.

  7. Probably, but I don't think it's good to base your faith on popularity.  It should be based on what you truly believe.

  8. Yes, that's the main advantage.
