Will I continue to lose weight so drastically?

I'm 17 and I eat a whole lot of junk food and don't exercise all that frequently. Surprisingly I'm not overweight, but I realize regardless of my weight I am not living a very healthy lifestyle, and that although I may not be overweight, I'm my no means lean. I decided to start eating a bit healthier, and going on a 10 minute run each day. I've done this routine for 5 days, and so far I feel excellent and i've lost 10 pounds. Who knew a 10 minute run would be so effective. If I continue this routine, will my weight continue to drop so drastically?

  1. no, your body will eventually get used to the routine you do and therefore you'd need to either increase the distance/ amount of time you run or increase the resistance (the hardness) of your runs. You could do this by using weights or running 5-10 extra more minutes. You do not need to do this though until you stop dropping weight. But i must also recommend that doctors say you should get 60 minutes of exercise per day so if you increased your workouts by 50 minutes i'm sure you'd get great results : ) but good first step on getting out and doing something.

  2. you won't continue to lose weight unless you start to starve yourself ... you have a good routine going on, keep it up... there is a weight at which your body likes to be at, and when you treat your body right, it will want to stick around that weight ... you are probably losing so much weight right now because you were above the point where you natural weight is supposed to be ... your body will take care of itself and you'll stop to lose weight when you reach your natural body weight ...

good job for realizing and taking that step in your life

    I'm proud of you

(just be careful not to take it to an extreme)

  3. no it will eventually even out. you do need to eat right though. Right now you are young and your metabolism is fast. The older you get the slower your metabolism will be and the harder it will be to maintain your weight. The younger you are when you start a healthy lifestyle the easier it will be to maintain it when you are older.

  4. Eventually you will plateau, at this point you will stop losing water weight and start losing fatty weight. Right now the drastic drop you see is just water weight. It gets a lot harder and if you wanted to really keep losing weight you'd have to vary up your diet a lot and exercise a lot more.

  5. your fat intake will drop but you gain muscle. muscle weighs more than fat

  6. Probably not.  Usually the first 9 pounds are just water weight that can be worked out fairly easily.  you wont lose as much in a week anymore probably, maybe about 5 or 3 pounds.

  7. it can, be careful that u don't go underweight, that is about as bad as being overweight, it sounds like u basically have a really fast metabolism and u digest your food faster than most people.

  8. good that you recognized that it was not a healthy habit, the reason you are not gaining weight is because you are still young but when you get older it will be hard to continue this lifestyle. and to answer your question you will lose weight for a little bit, eventually you may need to add more to your exercise to continue to lose weight.

  9. Typically when you start to lose weight, it drops off quickly at first then slows down a lot.  Just try to eat healthily and exercise a little, the important thing is being healthy for a long life, not too much underweight or too much overweight with a balanced diet. It's not witchcraft, mainly just common sense :)

  10. Sorry, but no.  Most of that 10 pounds you lost is water weight.  A realistic goal is about 1-2% of your body-weight per week, until you get to where you want to be.  Really though, your best measurement will be how you look.  A good gauge is how your clothes fit.  If they fit better, you're making progress even if the scale doesn't show it.

  11. You will lose a ton! I did the same thing! Email me for more tips on losing a ton of weight! I lost 50 pounds! Keep up the EXXCELLENT WORK!

  12. Simple answer, No. Your body will plateau. Meaning your body is going to get used to your new lifestyle. So once your at a comfortable weight it's all about maintaining. If you want to continue losing until you get to your final weight change up your routine. Talk a long walk one day, go swimming the next, go running the next, add weights ( like ankle or wrist weights). Have fun with your routine!
