None of my friends want to go but I really want to go to Cancun for the beaches and partying. Any suggestions on a good resort? I am planning to go in early May. Thanks in advance.

  1. Hello, I went when I was single to Cancun and had a great time. I am a man so the same issues would not apply to me that apply to you. I suggest you make friends at any resort you stay at, and try to go out with some other women at night, in a group, for safety reasons. This is not to say that Cancun is not safe, on the contrary, it is quite safe, but let's use common sense, there are bad people in the nicest places. Therefore you have to use a little common sense. Don't get on a bus if there is nobody else on it, especially at night, and do not get into a taxi alone either. Always keep your eye on your drink and another on the crowd while out and about.

Now for the recommendations on good resorts. I highly recommend that if you want to travel alone and meet people, you should choose a lively place. The only thing to consider is if you want to stay at an All-Inclusive resort where meals and beverages are included with the price of the room, or at a European Plan resort where all you pay for is the room, meals and drinks are extra. Here are a few places to consider:

    Riu Cancun-Very lively AI resort

Dreams Resort-AI resort with dolphin experience right on the property

NH Krystal-lively resort where I have run into plenty of single people, AI or EP, and they have an innovative Dine Around program where AI guests can dine out at participating restaurants.

    Sunset Royal-AI resort

Flamingo Resort-an older but stil a good choice, lesser priced EP or AI resort with good food for the price.

Hilton Golf & Spa Resort-EP resort, expansive grounds with several wonderful restaurants and always single people to be found.

I would avoid the All Inclusive resorts that are adults only properties. This is because they tend to attract mostly couples. I also left out the Caribe Real, not because there is anything wrong with this resort but because it tends to attract a lot of families. Now I must also add that the resort does have singles as well, but you may find that there are young children as well.

I hope this answered some of your questions and gave you something to consider. Have fun planning your trip.

  2. Chances are you would be safe - but I would recommend against going alone, for a couple of reasons.  First, you would have a much better time if you had someone to hang out with.  Partying is always much better if you have some one to share it with.  Second, Cancun is a big city, one that is full of tourists.  There are people who take advantage of that.  If you look lost at all, people will probably offer to help out - the problem lies in wether or not you should trust them.   There are tons of great people in Cancun that help tourists out and can make a trip great, but there are a couple of bad seeds that can really ruin a trip. Finally, if you are going to party, it's a great idea to have a friend with you.  Alcohol impairs judgement - and makes a person look vulnerable.  This is the same anywhere, not just Cancun.  Traveling in groups is a great idea.

I hope you can find someone to go with you - Cancun is a great place to go.  The beaches are amazing and the club scene is great!!

  3. It should be safe. But, things have changed. There are people who specifically target women traveling alone. Let some one (who is staying at home) know where you are going/staying, how long you will be staying and what activities you plan to do.  You mention partying, that scares me. Please keep your drink with you at ALL TIMES. Be careful with your passport, credit cards and other belongings. You might want to get traveler's checks. I would not bring anyone back to my hotel room and not let anyone I meet know where I was staying. I know it sounds extreme, but there a lot of creeps out there. There have been stories about young women never returning home. If you have a relative or a male friend, I would try bringing them along. Overall, you still need to be very careful.

  4. A 7 year old girl is one thing; a 23 year old little girl is another. If you have bad luck or are not very cautious, you could end up no longer being alone...in 9 months. All in all: do not go alone.

  5. Aventuras spa, just got back , alot to do in the resort, full service, all inclusive, I have a promo code to save u $50.oo on your stay  Receive $50 off any 4+ Night & Flight Vacation Package at CheapCaribbean.com.

    use (promo0900173855)

I thought this was a FANTASTIC resort, they have more on the cheapcaribbean.com web site, good luck

  6. There will be no fun if you go by yourself.

Not many women go to Mexico alone.

If you need R&R or there is no Mexican place safer.

You should have an easier time with the guys here than from where you live , I can tell you that.

Do not take a stranger home and pass out applies here  too

Hurricane season begins in May and there are not a lot of tourists there in the summer.

  7. Yes!

It is very safe in Cancun. I was there when I was 7 and accidentally got separated from my mom. I asked someone to point out the way to the hotel and they told me. I went to the hotel and used the phone. She was very freaked out but happy to hear from me. She was looking for me around the place where we got separated. Therefore, If a seven year old girl was wondering around the streets of Cancun and is still living today as a happy 11 year old, chances are a 23 year old  will do just fine. Hope I was of any help.
