Question:

Will I ever be able to excel in Gymnastics?

I'm 17 years old (I know.. VERY old), but as a child I really was pretty exceptional at basic gymnastics. I had never had a single class and by 6 years old I could turn myself backwards into the crab position, and forward again. My handstands were very strong and I could do a range of other things - laying on my front and being able to touch my head with my feet sticks out!!

So now, I really wish I had pursued Gymnastics as a kid. My parents don't encourage me with things at all... and I kind of blame them for me not going anywhere with it because I asked and asked and asked for years but they never showed too much interest.

At 17 years old, and still able to do the basic skills, could I, with a lot of training, become a moderately good average? I don't particularly care about compeitions, but even at this age could I still make something of my skills? And if so, what do you suggest I do?

Thank you! This means so much to me.

  1. I think that you could either join like a tumbling class at a gym or something like that! this would be working on the stuff that you mentioned and would have no competitions or anything like that! and the kids in these groups are generally older so you would fit in =]]

umm if you are really flexible you could look in to rythmic gymnastics which would be really stretching and that! but i think that the highschool group and tumbling group would be your best bet =]]

    good luck

  2. You are never too old ! No, you are not very old. If you have a passion for it, go for it !
