Will I ever get closure unless I do something?

about 16 months ago my dog had a limp and I took him to a neurologist who told me he had a tumor and his leg needed to be amputated right away, well after about $8,000 and an amputation, my vet called me and told me the good news was my dog didnt have a tumor and the bad news was they probably didnt need to have the amputation

A rational person would probably have gone off on him, but like the coward I am I just sat back and took it

I have let this thing rot away at me every day for the last 16 months and I cant even begin to describe the amount of damage it has done on my life

Will I ever get closure unless I sue him or go off on him?

  1. I would sue $8000 is alot of money for something that didn't even need to be done!

  2. You should have confronted him right away...he sounds like a scummy scam artist.....I would probably go after him because the loss of your dog and $8000 is alot to handle.  Before you go after him, play quiet & try and get the paperwork from the neurologist's office from the receptionist preferably without the doc knowing about it.  Once you get proof, go after him if your heart can handle it.  You may be able to get a lawyer to get the paperwork for you if you can't...and sue him for more money due to wrongful death, emotional pain and suffering both on you and your dog.  You shouldn't feel guilty at all.  Your dog's neurologist sounds unscrupulous unfortunately.  I wonder if he's done this to anyone else.  If so he deserves to be sued. I would ask others about him(kind of look into his reputation) and go from there. Try the BBB maybe.  I'm sorry for the loss of your dog.

  3. It's hard to sue a doctor of any type but it might make you feel a bit better to get some of your money back. But look at the best thing- your dog is going to live and not die. I had a 3 legged dog that lived to be 16yrs.

  4. You have EVERY right to sue.  You shouldn't be charged thousands of dollars for an amputation if your dog didn't even NEED it.

That's insane. A trained professional should know whether an animal has a tumor or not.

Would you want a doctor amputating YOUR leg for no reason what-so-ever? No.

I'm so sorry that this happened! I would consider sueing to prevent this from happening to someone else and their pet.

    Good luck! =]

  5. You really should press charges on him. Thats downright wrong of him to do. he had no proof of the dog having a tumor and simply did this to scam you out of your money. i hope you do sue him and get his license revoked.

Same thing with my  Grandmothers dog. a racoon ripped the dogs eye out of the socket, bu twas still attatched, and the doctor took out her eye and charged a h**l of a lot of money because the regular vet wasnt open.

when they took the dog to the regular vet, he told them there was absolutly no need to remove the eye, and it could have been fixed.
