I had a baby 5 weeks ago. Ever since then I have been eating chocolate cake, biscuits and sweets obsessively everyday!! I am breastfeeding and my baby boy is a really healthy weight. I am only a few pounds heavier than my pre pregnancy weight at the moment but am worried I am going to end up obese. Anyone else experienced this when breastfeeding??

  1. Yes.  Now, I've never personally breadfed, but my wife has.  Fact is, any sort of food obsession will end.  You will eventually get sick of them if you eat them for too long.  Then, you will probably not eat them for a while.  Even if the addiction is because of the breastfeeding, eventually you will stop breastfeeding, right?

If you're worried about gaining weight, you might try to increase your exercising regiment (or start one if you don't have one).  But either way make sure you get some nutrients besides just the sugar, the baby needs those too.

  2. Exercise your mother-love for the baby and tell yourself you are happy with your eating but each time hurting your baby when you eat and continue eating.   Stop it now and change to another variety and tell you and you yourself that it is better and good for you and your baby.

  3. In time it will be over, but until then let yourself enjoy as much cake as you want.

When people try to deny themselves something, they can become obsessed with it.

When I used to deny myself cake I would crave it so much, especially if there was cake in front of me (like at a birthday). Eventually I would give in & then feel guilty while eating a big piece.

I change my mindset around & convinced myself I could eat whatever I want & be the perfect weight. When I saw cake (or whatever), I told myself that I could eat the whole thing if I wanted.

I would cut a piece & enjoy it without being filled with guilt.

Because of this I didn't crave the cake as much & I could actually enjoy what I did eat without being distracted by feelings of guilt.

Realize it is just temporary & let yourself indulge, you just had a baby for crying out loud!!

  4. If you try hard enough, you can get over anything!!!

  5. Yes, you will. What you are experiencing is a hormonal imbalance because of your pregnancy. Nothing to worry about. I, too, had cravings. But not anymore. Don't worry too much about it unless it's giving you problems. Meanwhile, enjoy spending time with your baby. These are the most beautiful times!

    ;D

  6. Yes, you will. You'll get bored of them in the end. Every time you fancy a cake or chocolate think of something that you need to do, whether it be around the house of going for a walk with your baby or playing with him or whatever. Doing that will make you focus on something else and you'll forget about it. Hope this helps and good luck:-)
