Question:

Will I get a crop of tomatoes this year?

I was a little late getting my seedlings started (Mid-May). The plants are about thigh high but, no flowers blooming yet.

Summer around here lasts until at least the end of September.

What do you think my luck is of getting some tomatoes out of them?

  1. If you can add extra fertilizer and make sure they get full sun you may be lucky enough to get a small crop.

Try nipping out the growing tips so that you only have about four branches on each plant.  This will force the plant to start putting more energy into the remaining banches.  Foliar spray once a fortnight to supplement nutrients and keep the plants protected from wind and severe heat.

Green tomatoes will ripen off the vine if they are mature and the skins are glossy.

  2. Maybe, maybe not.. it'll depend on the type of tomato you planted.. try miracle grow once a week and epsom salt around the base of each plant. Be sure they're getting lots of water and full sunlight.. good luck!

  3. Lots of miracle grow, sunlight and keeping the leaves trimmed that aren't doing anything.  You can put alum foil under them to intensify the sun to

  4. Most tomato plants take any where from 60 to 120 days to produce tomatoes. Therefore if they havent started blooming you are running out of time. Are they planted where they receive full sunlight?
