Question:

Will I get a ticket with no license plate on camera?

I just got a new car and had 7 days to order new plates which i will pick up tomorrow but I made an illegal left turn. [don't ask, new driver and confused. learned my lesson and now understand.]

I believe there are cameras at these intersections. How would I be tracked for a ticket if the camera doesn't have a license plate number?

  1. Honestly you probably won't, unless the camera can pick up the VIN and get traced back to where you bought it from, etc.  OR if your temp tags have an individual # that can be traced back to you.

  2. If there is no plate how will Red Flex (thats the company who makes the cameras) know where to send the ticket?

    You are good to go!

  3. If the cops didnt see you, and a camera did, they cant get u or send u a fine, as long as they didnt see the paper in the back, assuming you had it on the window.

If not, theres nothing to fear :]

  4. You are probably good to go unless the cameras can zoom in enough to read the VIN.  Texas just started a new program where the paper tags have enough identifying information for law enforcement to know who the registered owners are.  I am a dispatcher and have yet to run across this so I'm not completely sure how it works yet but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough!

  5. The dealership gave you a paper to stick up in your back window.  That's your temporary license tag.  As long as the cop wrote down all of your info, you can be tracked.  He also copied the info off the temporary registration you handed him.

Edit: Those are not cameras at intersections.  Those are fore emergency vehicles to send signals to so the lights will change immediately.  The sensors detect the flashing lights.

Edit: If you weren't pulled over, you won't be getting a ticket.

Edit: Nope, they are most likely not cameras.  What you see mounted on traffic lights are sensors for emergency vehicles to trip with the flashing lights so they'll turn green.

If they took pictures of everything at intersections, the world would not have any trees left, what with all the paper they'll need to write out the thousand tickets a day per city.
