Question:

Will I get all my grant money?

I just accepted 2 grants today!!!!! WOOOOOO! Anyways I graduate in December, does that mean I will only get half of the grant money?

I got a Pell Grant for $4500 and a $1500 Tuition Grant from my school. My finance just called up to financial aid and they told her I would get all the Pell Grant money but only half of the Tuition Grant if I graduated in December.

So I guess my real question is, if I decide to take 1 class the next semester (semester after I graduate) would I get the full grant from my school, the full 1500 compared to only $750??

  1. be glad your getting what you are getting!

  2. Regarding the Pell grant.

You will not be eligible to get all your Pell.  (I don't know who you talked to but you can't get the whole 4500 for only being in school till Dec.)  If you can get it AFTER that depends on if the degree you earned is an associates, bachelors or a certificate AND if you are planing on stopping your school after you graduate or move on to the higher level of education.  If you choose to stop school entirely, you will only get HALF of that Pell.  (Sorry).

Hope this helps... you might want to call her back to double check you getting your full Pell grant.... better now then when they hand you the rest of your tuition bill for the fall.

  3. To get the maximum pell grant you have to be a full time student. They have a chart that they use that shows the amount you are eligible to get because of financial need, then from there the amount you will get according to how many hours you carry. Pell grants are for full years not semesters so if you're graduating mid-year you only need the money for that semester. Be grateful you got it, but enrolling in one class won't get you that full amount.
