Question:

Will I get charged anything for a few scratches on my rental car when I have insurance?

on my insurance booklet regarding accidental rental cars it states: "What We Cover - we will cover any loss or damage to the rental car as if it were your insured car, when you lodge a claim against your policy and pay the applicable excess". My car is currently being repaired while i have the rental car so my excess to fix my own car is $850. Does this mean the small scratches I made to the rental car are going to cost me another $850? I'm going to try my best to polish them n make them less visible but they're probably still going to see them :( i thought considering i have the insurance i wouldn't need to worry bout it? Can someone please explain how it works to me

  1. I'm no expert on this, but I would suggest you have a look here, there is expert's ideas you mayfind.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  2. Yes, generally your collision coverage transfers over to your rental.  This means it is treated just like your vehicle.

Therefore.. lets say you have 1k worth of scratches.. you will pay 850.. they will pay 150.

If the scratches only cost 250 to repair though.. you will only owe that.

Why would you think you didnt owe anything?  Why would you magically get better coverage just b/c you were in a rental?  Just wondering your logic here.  But yea.. sorry.. you still have an excess when its a replacement (rental) auto
