Will I get compensation if I send something second class?

Hi I want to send some stuff but I dont want to send 1st class as it cost more...if I send 2nd class will I get compensation incase it gets lost? and can I find out if the recieptant recieves it by sending 2nd class?

  1. Even if you send it 1st class, you do not get compensation for loss unless you pay extra for insurance or for registered mail.

  3. If you want reimbursed for lost, stolen, or damaged mail, you must insure it at the Post Office or on-line; not both.

    The insurance will cover only up to the value of the contents of your package at the time of mailing, regardless of whether or not it was insured for more than the value.

    If you send the package by Express Mail, it will automatically include up to $100 insurance. You may increase the amount for a small price.
