Will I get more channels when i get the HD TV converter box?

Yeah, the local station here runs a 24 hour news channel that just repeats the local news every half hour until they broadcast the next news

No and yes.  While the actual number of TV stations will remain the same, each TV station can send 4 full program streams over a digital channel.  After I installed by digital converter box I found that two of my local stations do that.  They have 4 separate programs running with video and audio and a fifth audio only stream.  The rest of the stations have 2 separate program streams running.  If you have a channel 28 in your area, it would be identified as 128-1, 128-2, 128-3, 128-4 or something very similar for the separate program streams.
