I crashed in a mailbox and the front bumper and brackets and things fell off. The brick holding the mailboxes and mailboxes are destroyed. I was driving with my dad in the car and we left a note to the house owners to call us about repairing it. Will I get my license taken away now?? I am 16 and got my license not too long ago.

  1. Not if you pay for the damage you did to the mailbox.

If the police didn't show up and give you a ticket, you have little to worry about.

  2. It all depends on the people, if they press charges its a possiblity depend on the state you live in. If you are offering to repair/replace it things should work out just fine. You did the right thing- accidents happen.

  3. no, you wont have them taken away, as long as you get things settled with the owner of the box, there wont be any police involved, just make things right with the owner of the house and everything should be ok.

  4. No you wont, maybe a fine and certainly points on your record but still will retain it.

  5. Several factors are involved: How did the accident happen?  If you didn't call the police (Accident Reporting) and the mailbox owners have not called the police, you won't have your license taken away.

You and your father did the right thing in leaving the note and taking responsibility for the repair. When people communicate with each other in a civil manner, things get resolved peacefully and without further reprecussions of the accident.
