  1. Dont speak fluent English there.....speak as if you learnt it yesterday in School.........!!

  2. No, most shops have a fixed price, the price you see is most likely the price you'll pay. If you buy a few items you can ask for a discount and the shop owner will usually give it.

In the open markets you can haggle over the price. In big cities you can find English, although I saw more french speakers. Cheers!

  3. No, OMG im leaving in 6 days, its awesome down there.

  4. no, i don't think so, or at least not because u talk engllish as some Lebanese are ripped off, but if u show that u're serious and that u can't be someone with whom others can mess, then u're safe. plus, ask about the costs and about the distance to others around u just to make sure that u know all about ur trip, and make sure u'll tell the driver in case he might try to get more out of u. but taxi drivers like these are few in Lebanon. about the english, u can make sure that the young persons know it as it's obligatory 2 learn it at school, but about the older, u and ur luck

  5. Everything is priced in $, so you will have no problem.

  6. Well, every merchant will try to make a dollar from a tourist - no matter where you go.

But you can be quite "Lebanese" about handling the situation without necessarily having to speak Arabic.  Just strike up a conversation with the merchants.  They love to talk, have a coffee or tea, and learn about you and where you are from.  As you talk, you can haggle on your price - but always keep it friendly.  In the end, you'll save a little and probably make a friend.

  7. you van say about 99.99999 % of Lebanese speak English, French and Arabic. It is really easy living in Lebanon

    come and enjoy

  8. 90% is arabic the other 10% is english, your doomed honey

  9. No...be calm. you'll feel safe there. Almost all the pple  speak 2 or more langs. french and english. Sellers in shops  most of the time speak both. they are polite.

May be you'll be invited to drink tea or coffee.

    That is very normal

  10. no u wont bcz mostly lebanese is a mixing of arabic french and english and if u get suspicious just remember that 1$ = 1,500 L.L

  11. You won't be ripped off if you play the game & aren't afraid to haggle...

Most merchants  were easy to deal with & very obliging....just don't rush in & pay the prices asked until you've done a bit of checking around. The tourist type areas are always more expensive.

    Language won't be a problem...

  12. everyone speaks either english or french even taxi drivers and NO you will not get ripped off
