Tonight I went to eat and ordered a chicken taco. I ate three bites of the taco and then looked down at it and discovered that a piece of chicken was a little pink of the inside. Being my paranoid self my boyfriend took it too the cook and he took it back cooked new chicken and reassured me that all the chicken was precooked because it was at a festival. I didn't eat that piece however I am kinda scared that a piece I ate might have been under cooked as well. Do you think that I will get sick? I ate around 9 o clock.

  1. you do have a chance of getting sick...... just don't eat it again

  2. yes you can, though i dont know what the harm could be from a little piece

I would have been pissed though

  3. you can

  4. Ok eating raw chicken is not a good idea . You should  know that not all chicken has salmonella but its just highly likely too. So if you get sick it may not be for 24 hrs if will be flu like . Just don't worry too much stress is bad for you

  5. U haven't eaten a lot..

    Donot worry.......

    u won't be sick

  6. Personally, I'd have demanded my money back and gone to another food booth.

Chicken is not something to be eaten undercooked.

All I can say for certain is that if you have salmonella, you will soon know it.

And if you get salmonella, I hope you got the name of the taco seller to report to the health department.

    Doc

  7. yes you may get sick from the chicken if it was raw, but if it was cooked to an internal temperature of 165 you should be fine. syptoms can sometime not show up at all or you could have diareaha or vomiting, if your concerned that they could have been served meat that was not cooked properly you should contact your local health department so that they know what is going on. There could be other people that get sick from that particular vendor. And  notifying the health department doesnt mean that they will be shut down it just means that they will go and investigate it. Good luck and i really hope this doesn't turn you away from eating at a festival again and i hope that you do not get sick from it! :)

  8. probably you will die.................

but not because of the chicken you ate, it will be of old age.

you will be ok. you didn't eat lots of it.

  9. When I lived in a university residence the chicken was frequently undercooked, and I was lucky enough not to get sick.

It sounds like the risk of you getting sick is pretty small since you didn't eat much, most of the meat was cooked and it was apparently pre-cooked. Sometimes cheap meat will have colouring added to make it look more appealing when raw - this might have been the cause of the little pinkness you saw.

Don't worry, but if you do get an upset stomach or nausea in the next couple of days see a doctor urgently and consider legal action!

  10. Not all raw poultry, including chicken, is contaminated with salmonella.  However, it is a risk and one that most people don't willingly take.  You only had a little bit so you may be lucky. I had a similar experience on holiday recently where I discovered half way through a chicken satay that some of it was raw. Urgh! But I didn't suffer any consequences.

BTW - incorrect food preparation such as the incident you mentioned would be illegal (ie a criminal offence) in many countries. The chef is lucky you didn't report him to the appropriate authorities.

  11. Yes.

raw meat will get you sick.

  12. Raw chicken is definately bad for you, but if you just had that one bite of undercooked chicken you'll probably be fine.  Just keep an eye out for any health changes over the next day or so.

  13. raw chicken is very bad for you,

if it was oldish chicken then you may get sick.

it is a very small amount though so it's pretty unlikely.

just don't eat pink chicken again.

  14. yes!........... raw chicken has a surprising  amount of germs.........it can even make pets sick....

  15. EAT IT dogs eat it and they don't get sick what are you mentally retarded go for it, its not like you are going to get sick or anything is it. why would you want 2 eat raw chicken anyway just out of curiousity

  16. You could get sick but if it was precooked then it is unlikely

  17. yes (if your not use to it and if you eat a lot of it!

  18. Im the same way! I will worry! LOL well....you MAY get sick, its highly unlikely that you will though cuz you only ate a little bit of it...Next time you eat ANYTHING with chicken that you have not cooked yourself, check it b4 taking that first bite...thats what I always do.

  19. I'm the same way!  DON'T EVER EAT RAW CHICKEN!!! It IS bad to eat raw chicken because of salmonella. But, don't worry. If the chicken was MOSTLY white and slightly pink in the middle... you won't get sick. =) Hope it helped.

  20. Yes........Eating raw chicken is not safe at all...I've never even seen "Sushi Grade Chicken", but that may be the only way to eat it safe...Although, I have to admit, even if it had that sticker, I still wouldn't eat it like that...

  21. no eating raw chicken is like eating suchi there is no harm in it = )

  22. When you cook chicken, if the juices run clear, the chicken's done. If it's slightly pink, you're probably OK. Eating uncooked chicken is a good way to get salmonella food poisoning. Symptoms are nausea, vomiting, chills, blindness, insanity, and death. (Just kidding, not the last three!)
