I have the British Columbia class 7 driver's licence and was on driving probation for taking 2 passengers in Jan 2008. Recently i got a speeding ticket from the state of Washington. I'm wondering if the violation will get me suspended.

  1. Depends on if Washington state has a reciprical agreement with the province of British Columbia

  2. That depends if BC has an agreement with the state of Washington to transfer points.

I live in Ontario and On. has an agreement with NY state that any On. drivers charged in NY will have the offense ( and the demerit points ) transferred to their On. licence ( and vice versa for NY drivers ).  However, Pennsylvania, for example, does not have the same agreement so if I was caught speeding there for example, the points would not be added to my licence.  The fine could also not be added to the licence plate renewal but simply ignoring the fine could have repercussions later on if you are later stopped again in the same state and your licence shows unpaid traffic and court fines.
