Will I go blind?

I have this condition called Kornitacotis (probly not spelled right)

in my right eye. I only see 5/20 in that eye but my left eye is fine,I see 20/20.I have glasses but don't wear them and I have one contact but I don't wear that either.My mom keeps telling me i'll go blind if I don't wear my contact.Is is possible? I really want to know.

    NO.  the hard lens does not in any way help to prevent you from going blind or losing vision.  it only helps that eye see better when it is on.  if you are happy with the way you see when you are not wearing the lens, then most docs would say dont wear it.  keratoconus contact lenses are not "therapeutic".  in other words, they dont "fix" the keratoconus.  pretty much nothing does.

    you may or may not "go blind" in that eye from keratoconus (probably NOT, very, very few actually do), but if you do or do not will have nothing to do with whether you wore a hard lens or not.


  2. I believe you mean keratoconus, if you are unwilling to use either the contact or glasses, you need to discuss this with your doctor. Your cornea is a cone shape and thinned, that is not something to just ignore and hope for the best.
