  1. Of course you won't have a problem.  Even if we did still live in the 1950s and religion was still an issue in Ireland, there wouldn't be a problem with a tourist being Protestant.

  2. No you wont have a problem.

  3. No, of course not.

  4. No!  What is a "Catholic surname?"  I believe anybody can visit Ireland.  How you are accepted in Ireland depends on how you act in Ireland!

  5. Hilarious question.  You must be watching the same news channel as the other person asking the question about soldiers and fighting in Ireland.

You will have no problem.  Don't even think about it.  Many families have inter married over the years and others have changed their religion.  If it is the Republic of Ireland you are visiting no one cares if you are Catholic Protestant Hindu Jew Muslim whatever.  At least no one I know. There are a few weirdos everywhere.

Even in the north as a visitor it will not be a problem.

No one will even ask what religion you are and will know even less by your name unless you are odd enough to keep mentioning it.

Enjoy your holiday and just be a person. Welcome .

  6. Nope, you'll be fine.

    Enjoy your holiday =]

  7. errrr - No

Do you specifically want to visit Norther Ireland

    or

    the ROI?

Very few names are strictly Catholic or Protestant.  800 years has meant things are progressing.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

    Have fun

  8. A problem visitng ireland?? yes because in the airport everyone gets lined up and if their name is protestant they get quite suspicious of u. if ur name is catholic, u may get away with it. HOWEVER if they find out ur really a prody UR DEAD.

wat do u think ireland is, a prison??

  9. NO

im a catholic (well.....i was born a catholic)

and my best friend was born a protestant

keep in mind neither of us are religious....but NOBODY cares anymore

  10. Only if you go running down the falls road in belfast with the tricolour

  11. I believe that if you go in to a nationalist area and say your a protestant there maybe if you just walk down the street with friends don't talk about your religion. wheater your catholic protestant or whatever......

  12. ireland is full of every nation nobody will bat an eyelid  just come and enjoy

  13. catholic in Tyrone here, you should be fine, most of the hate has faded depending on the area! in the south no one really cares and not many care up here either

    enjoy your visit!! (",)

  14. nope!! nobody cares anymore, honestly!! its in the past lol

  15. You will never be a holden against ya for the religion you be of.

That is not the way of a Irishmen ..

All can be as Brothers and are the same when entering a pub for the break of the last of the day.

Only when the day of praise is upon the people of a country is the preference of the people seen

  16. It doesn't really matter in Ireland any more

    You'll be grand

  17. No, I never had any problem. Funny story...I am a Yankee of 100% Irish decent. My Grandparents from both sides were Catholic and Protestant. I was baptism Orthodox at 20 yrs old (never baptised prior), my ex husband is Greek. My partner in Ireland is Catholic. Now if that isn't a mixed religious background...I don't know what is, lol.

Now, we love visiting old Churches...we found it hysterical that we went into a Church one mid day and that we thought was Catholic but turned out to be a Protestant Church. His family has been teasing us ever sense...trust me, the only thing anyone cares about is you as a person. If someone has a problem, its most likely because they push their religion on others rather than accepting the differences. I was asked by his family..."whats the difference between the Orthodox and Catholic religion"? My response jokingly was..."I don't have to queue up (wait in line) in purgatory"!  Keep an open mind and good sense of humor and you'll have no problem....Irish people are very open minded and not judgmental. Enjoy your vacation!

  18. um..a persons name does not indicate their religion

  19. How can you even consider it to be a problem?

Ah sure, you will be grand...come on over!
