Question:

Will I have to pay (UK)?

I want to go to see a therapist about some personal issues. I was thinking of asking my GP to refer me to one, would this be the best thing to do and will I have to pay for the sessions as I work and I'm a UK taxpayer? Or would I be better off going to a "private" therapist, they charge about £30 per session, is this the cheaper or more expensive alternative?

Thanks for any help, God bless xx

  1. It should be free (or very heavily subsidised) if you are referred by your GP.  The standard of service will be the same or possibly even better than if you were private.

  2. If you are referred to a specialist by a GP then it is free, the specialist you`ll end up seeing is probably the same one you`d see if you went private, most doctors and specialists work part time i the private sector,so why pay for it?
