Question:

Will I have trouble with Italian customs if I have a misdemeanor on record?

I leave for a trip to Italy in 2 weeks, and just remembered the trouble and the fine I had to pay when traveling to Canada. Does anyone know if it's the same with Italy? Also, who do I call....the Consulate? Thanks.

  1. Ahah... in Italy the most don't even know what a misdemeanor is... LOL

  2. you are not clear.what has canada got to do with italy?

when arriving to italay there are no computers at airport they will just stampo your passport.however go and pay for what you have to.

  3. what sort of fine? does it concern a visa overstay in Canada?

come back to your question, i cannot answer you properly....

  4. If you have an US passport and visit Italy for less than 90 days, you don't even have to apply for a visa. Should you had to apply for a visa, then you would probably had to answer question about your previous record, but if you will enter Italy through the visa waiver program, I don't think that anybody will ever ask you such questions.

So book your trip, relax and enjoy your stay.

  5. To avoid fines and trouble, the main thing is not to lie on any written applications.

If they don't ask then don't worry.

Most countries want to know if you've committed any crimes so that they can check to see if it's anything they need to worry about. Extra hassle but not really a problem if you're honest.

I'm sure that Canada and the US(I'm guessing that's where you're from) share a lot more information on their citizens than the US and Italy.
