Will I hear more sounds out of a digital optical cable opposed to a single coax ccoptical cable from dvd - ste

I am connecting from dvd to dts stereo systym. is it worth the extra money for digital optical cable over coax optical cable.

  1. No, you should not hear any difference at all. The Optical and Coax Digital carry about the same amount of information. The audio on a DVD is already in digital format. Using the Optical method would involve converting the already "Digital" information to "optical" information for transmission, by the DVD player. Then the receiver would have to convert the Optical Signal back to Digital for decoding.  As using the coaxial does not involve using a  decoder to convert the signal back from optical to digital. Basically using optical adds another step to the process.  Bottom line you should not be able to hear any difference.
