Will I loose all my windows xp files if I upgrade to Ubuntu?

How can I keep them with out using an external hardrive,usb key,or cds?

  1. when you first load the cd for unbuntu it ask if you want to run it with windows or partition  so you still have the windows system on your comp other wise backup to external or flash drive is the only way


  2. Ubuntu gives you a dual boot option. You can actually run both operating systems by selecting which one you would like to run at the Boot Menu when the machine starts up. I did this for awhile until i moved all of my files from the windows XP installation to the Ubuntu desktop, Then I removed the windows installation completely, If you need step by step hit me up.

  3. You can't upgrade from windows to ubuntu...ubuntu is a different OS.

    You can create a partition in your hard-disk and install ubuntu there or you can install ubuntu in the same drive without disturbing your windows XP.
