I'm a vegetarian, lacto ovo. When I cut out meat 2 years ago I lost a lot of weight, but I mostly gained it back because I started eating a lot more cheese and stuff. If I go full vegan, will I lose weight?

  1. Chances are you will not lose a lot of weight. When I first became a vegetarian, I didn't lose any weight. And when I became a vegan, once again I did not lose any weight. So I wouldn't worry about losing weight if you go vegan, but I would'nt use it as a motivation to go vegan either.

  2. Its the wheat products that make u put on weight. (sick too)

Cut it all out and with your healthy eating programme, watch the weight fall off.

  3. Not really. It depends on how much you eat carbohydrat and how much you exercise every day. Be vegan. Not only for losing weight but for other reasons like reducing global warming or for stop killing animal. For losing weight, do more exercises.

  4. Veganism is not a weight loss regime. There are vegans of all shapes and sizes, from very fat to very thin, just as there are vegetarians and meat-eaters of all shapes and sizes.

In the course of my life I have been a meat-eater, a vegetarian and a vegan; at different times I have lost and gained weight as all three. It depended on how healthily I was eating and how much exercise I was getting.

Wanting to lose weight isn't a good reason to go vegan

  5. It depends on how you do it. If you stay away from too much starch and sugar, you should be fine. Also, try to eat more raw fruits and vegetables (as seaweed and all those other goodies) rather than cooked food. There are more enzymes and you can eat less of it. Best wishes in your quest :)!

  6. Depends on if you will be a HEALTHY vegan. I am a healthy vegan and I was vegetarian for 2 years and have been vegan for 3 years after that and lost 30lbs and I never work out. My doctor is shocked that someone that doesn't eat animal products can be so healthy. Just be smart with it you'll be fine.

  7. have you ever met a FAT vegan? I know i never have.....so im gonna go with a 'yes' on this one

  8. watch your nut and bread consumption and you should be fine. moderation is key!

    eg:

breakfast: 1 cup oatmeal, berries, 3-5 nuts

lunch: salad, soup, 1 slice bread

dinner: veggie chili, whole wheat tortilla, fresh veggies
