  1. Winter Park is a good area, but it is in Orlando, Florida a southern city (so eventually it's going to suck)...

You will not make the kind of money you deserve to make - you'll be in the South

Cross your eyes, fingers, legs and toes - it's going to suck...

    Hope this helps

  2. I moved to Winter Park 4 years ago, and live in the Lakemont - Aloma area.  We love it.  The neighborhoods are full of trees, the houses aren't cookie cutter.  It is a little more expensive than some areas, but the location is great.  You're close to downtown Winter Park for shopping and the Farmer's Market on Sat. morning.  You're close to Baldwin Park for restaurants (and their Publix is newer and cleaner than the one on Aloma), drive through Baldwin Park and you're on Colonial in no time for more restaurants and shopping - close to downtown, and only 30 minutes from the airport.  I don't have children, but I understand the school system is good.

  3. Overall WinterPark is nice. Areas of Aloma not so good. Your by Lakemont its not that bad. Cops are in full force so obey speed limit.

  4. Watch the speed traps.. just because you don't see them don't mean they don't have a laser gun.  If the sign says 15 mph, enjoy 15 mph.

  5. Good schools, safe neighborhoods, tree lines residential streets, quant small town feel, minutes from downtown Orlando and lots more.

    You'll fit right in.

  6. winter park florida real estate is something that is probably some of the best around in the area. I would recommend living near Park Avenue in Downtown Winter Park, Florida. If you need to search rentals or homes for sale in the area I would visit http://www.ItsYourSale.com it's probably the best local Central Florida area home search. Also, it says your a teacher and if you ever sell a home or know other teachers ItsYourSale.com will help you sell your home free of charge.

  7. Winter Park is a nice area.  Some of the most expensive homes in central florida are in Winter Park.  Lakemont @ Aloma is not a bad area.  Park Avenue is close by, nice shopping and restaurants.  Winter Park has a really nice art festival every year there.  Aloma is a speed trap though heading towards Park Avenue, so be careful, especially around the curves right before Rollins College.  You are also not too far from downtown Orlando (where I work), and there are some nice restaurants and bars there, especially in the Thorton Park area.  It gets really hot and humid here in the summer, but the winters make it worth it.  Good luck and welcome.  Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions I can help you with -- I've lived here all my life.

  8. my sister lives in winter park.  I will forward this to her and post her answer.  It may take a few days as the long weekend is coming.

I visited there several years ago and it seemed very nice. Nicer if you have lots of money...

  9. Winter Park is great!  It is a wonderful place for young professional!  There are lots festivals, and little boutiques, along with great restaurants and a great community feel!

  10. Winter Park is definitely a more expensive place to live than other areas around Orlando.  I've lived in Orlando for 26 years and I'm not aware of any "bad" parts of Winter Park.  Park Avenue has a lot of trendy shops and restaurants, as well as a farmer's market on Saturday mornings.

From Lakemont and Aloma, you'll have just a short drive to Interstate 4, which runs from Daytona Beach to Tampa, through the heart of Orlando and the attractions.  There's also a Whole Foods nearby, if that's your thing, and if you like pizza, check out Mellow Mushroom on Aloma.
