I have Time Warner basic cable, no digital box, will I need a dtv converter box in 2009

  2. You don't need a coupon type converter box that the government is subsidizing because they only work with over the air TV and don't have anything to do with cable TV service.

    The analog shutdown on 2/17/09 only effects over the air TV and has nothing to do with cable service.

    The first two answers you got are wrong. Many people have analog only cable service. However over the next few years a lot of cable systems are expected to change to "digital only".

    If (or more likely when) your cable system does this you will have to use a cable box (or a similar device) to keep using an analog TV.

  3. Cable TV is digital, so NO you will not need a dtv converter box.

    The only people who will need the DTV converter box are those who rely on an antenna for over the air signals.
