what was the date that the government stated that if you passed your full motorcycle test before? It stated you would not need to take a theory test for a car if you passed before that date?

  1. I passed my driving test for the car in 1998 and I still had to do the theory test when I went for my bike license. I had already done the old style theory test, but they still made me do the new one.

I don't know if they have let you do a bike test now without passing your theory test. The best bet would be to contact the Driving vehicles Licensing Authority and check though.

I don't want to come across as paranoid, but I think that for every test carried out the government gets a payment and so they will probably insist that all drivers have to do a theory test if they want to add a new skill to their licence.

By the way, the theory test is very tough and expensive. I had to do the new one twice as I was one point out in the hazard perception part (I was gutted to be so close and yet still have to do the d**n test again). If you have to do it make sure and get a practice DVD off someone and put a few hours in with it as the hazard perception part is a nightmare.

  2. well I got my MC and car license the same day and had to take written exams for both and that was a long time ago (24yrs).

Soooo, I'd check with the DMV in your state.

  3. I think you are covered for two years,ie,you don't need to do the car one within that time limit.
