  1. if uk purchase on line I agree with an earlier answer if your journey involves a change of train check if cheaper to purchase singles for both legs instead of a through ticket


  2. If you are referring to the UK, then generally for longer journeys, yes you will. It's always better to buy a bit in advanceamd on line. Sometimes you can get very cheap deals by buying two single tickets (one each way). I always use www.thetrainline.com.

  3. if possible go to the station,a week or so before you travel,to book your ticket,ask for the best price,they'll even give you a print out of train times.
