I am about to be 38 weeks on Tuesday, and my baby is already measuring over 8 lbs. I have been very headstrong this whole pregnancy about wanting to have a natural waterbirth, and the closer it gets and the more miserable I become, I am freaking myself out about it and thinking that if he waits two more weeks, he will be too big for me to do it naturally. I know the worst thing I can do is stress over it, and Ive tried every old wives tale in the book to make him come early (yea right lol). Is there anything else I can do to make having a natural birth still a possibility or hurry things along!?

  1. Beautiful belly by the way! =) I know it's hard but try to not work yourself up. Your baby's birth will be easier if you remain calm with the right attitude. You know what you want, and baby knows what he needs. I got out a 9lb baby at home naturally..just relax. Your baby will come when he is ready and you CAN do this. My mother in law's biggest baby was 10lb13oz..natural. Do not let fear take over, you can do it!

    Good Luck and relax! =)

  2. A natural birth is possible, he isn't too big yet! My MIL gave birth to 6 kids and all of them weighed over 9 pounds, the biggest weighing 12 pounds. And all of them were completely natural.

If you end up needing an epidural, don't beat yourself up about it, try your best and if you need a little help, it will be ok!

  3. He will come when he is ready or when your body is ready. Don't stress about it. My 1st pregnancy was 9lbs 9.5 ozs and my 2nd was 10 lbs 11.5 ozs. You will be able to do it!

    Good luck and Best wishes!

  4. Well It just depends on you and your body. I had a friend that had a  10lb 6oz baby totally natural. Well good luck.

  5. A friend of mine had an 11lb baby naturally AND reckons it was easy. The best thing you can do (hard as it is) is to not stress about it. Bub will come when he or she is ready, and the size of it will not necessarily affect your labour. You could go into labour with a 6lb baby and find you can't handle the pain or you could go in with a 10lb-er and go natural it's just a luck thing more than anything. Just try your best to relax and prepare yourself for every scenario as size aside anything could happen when you go into labour and it's best not to be too set on one way of doing it or you could end up very disappointed. Just remember that your body is designed for this, if it couldn't do it wouldn't be plain and simple.

  6. Good luck! I tried it all! Evening primrose oil, raspberry leaf tea, squats, long walks, swinging, bouncing on the exercise ball, pineapple... the only thing I didn't subject myself to was castor oil (I heard that it could cause the baby to have a bowel movement in the womb). I was induced after 12 hours of cervidil cervix softener. I was wanting a natural birth so badly, and I ended up taking the epidural because the contractions were so bad that I was stressed and I was fighting the pain so much that I wasn't progressing.

I really hope that your birth story goes more to your ideal than mine did! Good luck! Remember that however your precious little one comes, (s)he will still be the most wonderful gift you could receive!

  7. Congratulations!

I don't think you have to hurry things along. The baby will come when s/he is good and ready! :) And women have had natural childbirths for millennia before modern hospitals and drugs, so I think a natural birth is still possible for you. I had an 8 lb, 12 oz baby girl just under two weeks ago, also natural. It was great!

  8. i have always heard that if u want the baby to come on out to get on ur hands and knees and clean (scrub) the floors or to have s*x

  9. Your body is made to deliver the baby you are carrying! You can do it! If you really want to have a natural birth you should commit to it now. If you could go either way then prepare yourself for that too.
