Will I suck when I go back to ballet classes?

From last fall and until may 22, i have been taking dance classes 5 days a week for 2 hours (ballet.) i havent taken any since then because school got out, and the school i go to is where i take those dance classes. This fall I am going back to take dance again, and this time we will start pointe. I am taking some dance programs during this summer, but I am afraid I might lose my turnout/flexibility/strength somewhat, so when I go back in the fall to do pointe, I may not be as good or I might injure myself? What do you think?

  1. Yeah you should have been practicing everyday. Just keep stretching until school starts again.

  2. give it a try, because u already  have a basic training, and I'm sure u know how to stretch before u start. No hurt to give it a try. Maybe u'll fine more interesting in this dance classes. who knows, right?!

  3. I am a dancer as well, and I have a break over the summer.  If I were you, I'd regularly keep up with my stretching exercises, and strengthening exercises.  For example, do 200 relevés everyday.  Keep your muscles limber and warmed up.  Make sure you keep practicing your turn-out and different positions.  Practice plies, grand plies, fondus, frappés, fouettés, glissades, pas de chats, passés, pirouettes, port de bras, and remember:

    En avant!

    Good luck, sweetie!

  4. Hello,

if you do not think you will be good enough or you think you would injure yourself, then go talk to your teacher or a specialist. They will be able to give betetr answers than us. But i think you would need some extra strengthening time before going on pointe. Maybe do some calf rises, stand on one left and rise into demi pointe, do 20 on each leg, everyday and this will strengthen you very well. I wish you the best of luck with ballet and just remember have faith in yourself and so will everyone else. Do your best and keep dancing

    xx

  5. i dont think you will. just practice and get your pointe shoes and practice getting on pointe in those

  6. Itll take time to get back to where you were. Keep excersizing over the summer. good luck!
