Question:

Will I use a diaper stacker?

So, I registered for a full nursery set.

I registered for every piece.

The sheets, the lamp, the decorative pillow, the wall hangings, and the diaper stacker.

It's cute. However, I'm pretty sure I heard someone say that they're useless, and I'll end up just taking them out of the pack, especially since most diaper changes will end up being in my living room.

Did you use a diaper stacker, if it was part of your nursery set?

Should I delete it from my registery? If I'm not gonna use it, for $30, I'd rather just delete it, so someone could buy me something more useful.

  1. Some one bought me one and I never used it.  They are cute but having them in a drawer worked out a more convenient way for us.  I keep her diapers in the living room (and bedroom) in a pull out drawer in my entertainment center along with her wipes, cream and Tylenol.

  2. You might. But only for a short time. I used one for both my boys but not for long. After awhile it is just a hassle to keep loading it up. And they are right you will end up changing more in the living room than the bedroom. Unless you have company and even then most times it is right where you are. Congrats on the baby. Register for diapers or something else you might use more.

  3. yeh i got one and ended up giving i away...its nice to have in the room but not very useful... today diapers come in nice packs most of the time and its easier to just use them out of the bag... i use cloth nappies as well and we go through them that quick i jusy keep a nice basket in the room instead and use them straight off the line :) easier is what's best with bubs...

  4. "So, I registered for a full nursery set.

    I registered for every piece."

Junk, junk, and junk. Especially the "diaper stacker."

Get books and toys, not c**p like decorative pillows. It will be worn out and ready for the bin before your child is aware it exists.

  5. I never did, but i know some moms that do.  I just found them to be more of a hassle than anything.  They are a pain to get diapers out of, and even more of a pain to put diapers in.

I just got a cloth lined basket that I put on the changing table and filled with diapers.  I have another basket filled with diapers in my living room so I don't have to lug the baby upstairs for every diaper change.

You can find other uses for the diaper stacker though. Such as holding the next size of clothes, organizing towels and wash clothes, storing blankets, or even stuffed animals. :)

  6. I decided not to get one, my pack n play has the changing table with the diaper stacker on the side..so I don't need one.

But before we got the pack n play I has considered getting one.

The thing to think about is you may not get everything you NEED at your shower if people buy stuff that isn't a real necessity, so only register for stuff you really need, then after the shower you can go and buy the other stuff with the cash you get.

  7. I never had one, I just kept them stacked in a cute 'lil basket.  However, I wish I had one.  Because eventually your little Joel will love to head straight for the bag/basket/shelf/whatever full of diapers, and see how quick he can scatter them across the room.  A stacker somewhat hides them, and you can hang it high from his little hands.

**I kept a seperate basket in the living room as well, with a few dipes/lotion/butt paste if needed, because we did hang out there the majority in the begining, but having diapers in my girl's room these days is a must because they become SO squirmy, changing on anything BUT her changing table is impossible.  It always results in a naked escapee..

  8. I just got one! It looks good in the nursery. I'm sure they aren't necessary. I didn't have one with my first son, but it looks better in the nursery than a pack of diapers just sitting there, you know? That's my reason for getting mine! It may be dumb, but I am going to put diapers in it and just grab one out at a time when I change my new baby.

And, if you think about it, nurseries really aren't FOR the baby. I mean, they don't care! They won't even notice what it looks like. So the "junk" like the decorative pillows, diaper stackers, etc. are more for your enjoyment when admiring the nursery. I happen to like well decorated rooms, so to me, it's worth it. Other people will disagree.

  9. I also bought the full nursery set.  I use the diaper stacker all the time.  I have it hanging right beside the change table and find it really handy.  It looks nice too.

  10. You will more than likely never use it. With our 1st baby we made the mistake of registering for all the fancy bedding sets the blanket the pillows the DIAPER STACKER. But never used the blanket the pillows ended up in the back of the closet within a week. Save your friends and family the money and register for things that will be needed more like creams, diaper rash cream, diapers ranging in size, ect. Good luck

  11. I did not even buy a diaper stacker for that exact reason. I do change my daughter in her room on the changing table every single time I change her at home. I've never changed her in my livingroom LOL... I don't know anyone who does but to each their own. For my diapers, I bought one of those rubbermaid small sets of 3 drawers. They sell them in kid colors. A boy one that is red, blue and yellow and a girl one that is pink purple and blue.  I can fit almost an entire pack of diapers in the top drawer, the middle drawer is for refills to the diaper genie, extra powder, vaseline, desitin etc. , and I use the bottom one for spit rags, washcloths and bibs. It was much cheaper than a diaper stacker and I can re-use it later to organize toys or even socks and undwear when she gets older. If you want it to make your nursery look complete go ahead, but they are not very useful in my honest opinion. :) Hope this helps.

  12. I never intended to get one, but someone gave me one as a hand me down gift. It turns out that I actually like it. Is it necessary? No. I'm like you, I change him all over the house. But for me it's easier to have it stacked in that than it is to grab a diaper out of his closet each time.

  13. A what??  Ok that's a new one...I have to look that up!  So its some sort of cloth bag?  Err no that sounds annoying.  Diapers fit perfectly in a shoe box with or without the lid.  Or any similar plastic box.

I absolutely agree most diaper changes end up in the living room, that's where I keep my diapers, wipes etc.  I have one shoe box for each size (I have a toddler and a baby) and a box with the other supplies in it (cream, nail clippers, errrr I don't know I actually don't even use that much anymore as its just too much bother).  Get some pads are they are useful but you will need to wash them.  I prefer the cloth with vinyl backing as its less cold on a newborn but they need to be washed more.  Eventually you learn to change without a pad =))

The pillow is beyond useless you can't use it in the crib.  Same with bumper pads.

I agree that the wall hangings, lamp, etc are going to wear out before baby knows they are there.  If they are important to you that's fine.  However I had little use for the separate room at all as we cosleep.

  14. We have the whole set up too! We use our diaper stacker our daughter is 8 months old and I don't see us not using it. It is very cute and keeps the room organized. Baby's get familiar and like routine so we always change her in her nursery and get use out of all her stuff!

  15. I like my diaper stacker a lot and it gets good use. I probably wont use it until he's out of diapers but for the time it is definitely serving it's purpose.
