Will India be able to stop the fiery England team? – Part 2
India will be geared up to fight back against England in the third Test of the four-match series at the Edgbaston, Birmingham in England on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.
However, the team will have to make a lot of progress against a quality playing-11 of England. Not only the hosts have managed to win the first two games of the series, they have been by huge margins.
The first match of the series played at Lord’s was won by the Poms by a massive margin of 196 runs. They were even stronger in the next game, winning it by a mammoth 319 runs.
There have been a few weak points for England in the previous two games, but the team has got away with them because of the poor performances of the opposition.
Opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, but has been unable to live
up to the expectations of his side in the ongoing series against the world number one Test team.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 has also been unable to make a big impression in his four outings until now. The veteran player has looked good in patches, getting a couple of solid starts, but has failed to convert them into big ones.
Apart from his bad luck with the bat, Strauss has also been unlucky at the toss, losing both in the first two encounters.
One big low for the hosts will be the loss of their first-drop player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576. The solid right-handed batsman injured his shoulder while fielding in the match at Nottingham.
Trott will be replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373, who has been impressive in the County Championship games this summer. However, it will be hard for the latter to adjust in the team straight away.
England’s batting strength lies in their middle-order, as there have been plenty of runs scored by the batsmen down the order. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597 will probably bat at number three in the absence of Trott.
Bell scored a tremendous knock of 159 runs, batting at number three in the second innings of the Nottingham Test. He batted well under pressure, as the team was a couple of wickets down at that stage.
Apart from Bell, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 has also proved to be a threat for the Men in Blue. The stylish batsman started off the series with a sensational double hundred at Lord’s and did a decent job in the second match as well.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 was struggling for form, but scored a solid half-century in the Nottingham Test, gaining form.
Even if http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 have taken the game away from the opposition.
The conditions in England have been friendly for the seamers, and the hosts have taken full advantage of them. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 has been doing a terrific job, swinging the ball on both sides and picking wickets.
However, the pick of the bowlers so far has been Broad, who became the first ever bowler in Test cricket to score a hat-trick against India. He was the player-of-the-match in Nottingham and will look to be dominant in the remaining games as well.
It seems very hard for the tourists to bounce back in the series from this point. However, they are still the number one Test team of the world and will be confident of a comeback.
