not likely, because china is like its enemy and the five current members will likely have to vote to let any country became permanent and since china is one of the five current members the likelyhood of India becoming a member is slim but never say never it could happen in the future

It should! They are going to be the most populous nation in the world later this century. India's eventual superpower status seems to be a shoe in. Having another powerful nation seems to be a good way to ensure peace.
