Will Kansas City, Pittsburgh, or St. Louis ever have NBA teams?

I always wondered that. It seems like deserving cities don't have NBA teams...I don't know. KC has an arena and Pitt is getting a new one and it just seems like St. Louis would have a team...haha, yeah.

  1. first of all. once the new arena is built in pittsburgh, the mellon arena will be destroyed. why keep the arena standing when its too old to use, thus the reason for a new one. think people.

but Pittsburgh (my city) will never have a basketball team, it wouldnt be supported.

  2. Never !!

  3. Kansas is not a likely city to receive an NBA team. First the attraction for players to want to go there would not be high. The NBA has now recognized the importance of popular cities with either high population, attraction destination ie tourism (which is hand in hand with viewers watching them), and an increase in the cities market.

Pittsburgh is more of a football town, basketball would not flourish there at all. Some markets and spectators are dominated by one interest and in this case it is football.

And St. Louis, this is a second level major city, a lot of tourism and attractions, get for marketing, and real estate is actually increasing in some parts of Missouri. As long as more wealth is coming into the city then you have the chance for you NBA stars to see themselves in that area and being able to live a nice lifestyle amongst others.

For many other people saying the Clippers will leave, not so. The Clippers, though not the most  celebrated team with victories, the city of LA has embraced them and they are in the top twenty (20) of the NBA in home attendance. This is not great but considering they share house with the Lakers an they have just signed a home grown product in Baron Davis, their attendance will shoot up to top 15.

You should look forward to Las Vegas having a team, San Diego, San Jose, Brooklyn, and STL

  4. Yeah, I think it's still undecided what Pitt is going to do with the old arena when they build the new one...hopefully they'll do something with it!

  5. Well You the Sonics moving to Oklahoma City now they are the Thunder,

Pittsburgh I doubt anyone move there, despite of the New Arena suggest they get a Arena Football Team Instead.

St. Louis Good City Not for the NBA like Pittsburgh they got Baseball, NFL and the NHL don't need the NBA.

Kansas City with a New Arena They Need a Big Time Tenant, The Bucks are Struggling in Milwaukee they might have them or the Clippers because they really can't co-exists with the Lakers at the Staples Center.

So you got two NBA Teams who might Re-Locate and its likely to Kansas City.

  6. i can see St. Louis getting a team just because it is a decently large metropolitan location, and the presence of another midwest nba team would work well for the NBA. I don't see KC getting one just because if St. Louis got one, they would cannibalize of the fan bases and st. Louis is a better market. I live in Pittsburgh and in all honesty i don't think an NBA franchise would flourish. This is a football city first and foremost and everything, and I mean EVERYTHING comes second to the steelers. Even with the penguins going to the stanley cup, the atmosphere was nowhere near a steelers playoff game.

  7. The Melon arena is going to be a parking lot...eveyone knows that. But hockey/basketball teams share arenas. Pittsburgh suports they're college basketball teams, so maybe.

    St. Louis maybe.

    Kansas city, ehhhh....probably not...

Just see what happens in the next decade.

    And after that....[;
