Will Kimbo Slices upcoming fight on CBS RUIN MMA?

Personally I believe it will give people a bad taste about MMA mainly because Kimbo Slice is a bum and his opponents are even worse!

I don't think MMA will be RUINED because of Kimbo's fight. And even though many feel ELITEXC is also lame, I just wanted to point out that 1) they at least aren't afraid to have women's matches on the card, 2) they have at least a 3 or 4 event "deal" with CBS, so future cards are a sure thing, and 3) they don't have ONLY fighters of Kimbo's "caliber" contracted to them. Have any of you seen Cung Le, for example? Hopefully HE will headline one of the upcoming CBS cards so people can see what a true MMA artist can do. I'm guessing he isn't on this "premiere CBS card" because he just finished a great match against champion and legend Frank Shamrock, breaking Frank's arm in the process.

I have to agree with just about everyone that Kimbo wouldn't stand a chance if they pitted him up against a true MMA submission specialist. But people DO like to see a good "clobbering" and maybe those unfamiliar with MMA will enjoy seeing what Kimbo has to offer this weekend.

I can only hope that they come back again if, and when, ELITEXC sets up another card on CBS featuring the likes of someone like Cung Le.

Kimbo will get his *** kicked if he fights someone with real talent. He gets every fight handed to him because the guys he goes against have no skill. We'll see come Saturday...

Kimbos no worse than BJ Penn running up and l*****g the blood off of Sean Sherks face. Most of us know hes not a top level fighter yet and the rest have no idea if the guys a bum or not. The fact that hes a scary looking dude that looks like he

Kimbo's a street fighter not a cage fighter. What

technique does he have other then his "Iron Fists"?

I would like for someone to take him to the ground

and see what happens from there. Is he even training

in actual martial arts now that he is going into another

That fight should be the undercard fight. At least Kimbo is distancing himself from street fighting by not talking about his past and saying street fighting is bad.

Not Kimbo Slice per se, but Elite XC perhaps.

Elite XC is losing money by the millions and sold out to the network in a last ditch attempt to stay afloat. They have loaded their roster with personalities because they dont have the tallent to get viewers.

Some people are taking this "ruining MMA" thing a bit to literally. It wont bankrupt the giants like UFC, IFL, Strikeforce, but if it upsets the public perception of what MMA is you can kiss seeing real fighers like Penn, Silva, Rampage, Franklin, GSP and Hughes on a Saturday night network tv special goodbye because Elite XC ruined it.

by putting in tomato cans against kimbo your introducing the sport to people as what its tried so hard to get away from

Ya sure 98% of his game is his brawling...but look at him.  He takes this guy down no problem, and even finishes it with a submission.  Is mercer washed up, h**l ya he is.  but none the less, he does more than just brawl!

its not gonna ruin mma....this **** is ******* amusing to watch for someone like me.......its awesome.  But would i pick a real..."technical" fight over this? ya, any day of the week.  But there is nothign else for me to choose from, so i guess im stuck with this :)

Kimbo has not ruined MMA so far, has he? One man can't bring down the whole sport. No, he's not fighting top talent. He might not ever. He may never be a top heavyweight. He fights who they put in front of him. He has not publically disrespected any fighter that has not disrespected him. He has not been brought up on charges of steroids or weed like some of our other MMA heroes. He is training, fighting, and making a living, and it makes some of us out there jealous; h**l, im jealous. If he loses, he will still be part of an historic night for MMA, and his name will get out to hundreds of thousands of people. And he still gets paid. Let it go already. If BET's the Iron Ring has'nt killed MMA in the past 12 weeks, I doubt Kimbo can do much damage, in one night.

Kimbo's fight on CBS will open the flood doors to every geek, nerd, douche bag out there. Other companies will see the success, and soon you will see UFC on fox or some other syndicate.

This will inveitably ruin MMA by oversaturation of the market, and horrible programming and marketing.
