Will Lampard’s return be like a new signing for Chelsea
Chelsea who are the current reigning champions of England, have so far been doing tremendously well in both domestic and European competitions. They have so far been the team to beat every time they have taken the field and so far they have proved to be
a handful for everyone.
However something that has not been working for the team so far, has been the fitness of the players. For a change players on the Chelsea squad have been getting injured left and right. Recently the team was given the news that Yossi Benayoun was being ruled
out for up to six months due to a torn Achilles tendon and Alex has also been out for a number of weeks due to an ankle injury that he picked up. While the teams top scorer Didier Drogba has recently been unavailable for the team due to some minor health issues.
However the one player who has been missed the most by the team, has been the teams midfield magician Frank Lampard. Super Frankie Lampard as he is called around Stamford Bridge underwent a hernia operation almost immediately after the start of the season,
but has ever since been missing in action for the team. The player was rumoured to be back within two weeks, but it has been well over a month and then some for the player and he is still quite uncertain as to when he will be back.
The player first felt the need to get surgery done following the conclusion of the World Cup, but felt he could go on for a couple of more weeks. This was only due to the fact that the player wished to give the team his all and didn’t want to be out of action
for a long period of time. However when it was noticed that the player was in a lot of pain, he was forced to undergo the knife by the teams manager Carlo Ancelotti. Lampard being the resilient player that he is, was in no mood to get the surgery done before
the winter break, but the manager convinced him that it was for the best.
The player has however been out of action for much longer than anticipated, but is however nearing a return to the team as the minutes go by. The Chelsea midfield, being versatile has so far been able to adopt to having players fill in for the missing Lampard,
but neither of the players have been able to provide the same cutting edge that Lampard provides to the side. He has some of the best vision and creativity that the game has ever seen.
He is also one of the best passers of the ball around and unlike most midfielders who rush a long ball to the furthest player, Lampard opts to pass the ball to the player who is in the best option at the moment. Lampard also tends to get on the score sheet
more than any other midfielder in the world and that is what really sets him apart.
That being said, a return by the player is something that would be greatly appreciated by the squad and the fans. In fact most experts believe that the return of the player would almost be like a new signing for the side considering how long the player has
been out for. However it is also at the same time safe to say that the return of the player would help make Chelsea even more dangerous then they already are.
