Will Latvia be able to reserve berths at the 2011 CEV Youth European Volleyball Championship?
The qualification tournament for 2011 CEV Youth European Volleyball Championship is supposed to start in the first week of January, 2011. The girls’ and boys’ competitions will be held in different countries. The city of Jelgava in Latvia will host the thrilling
competitions of boys’ teams in Pool E. The host Latvia will be joined by teams from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia, and England. Officially, the event will cover its length from January 5-9, 2011.
The Latvian boys’ squad is coached by Nauris Sokolovskis and Aivars Pekmans. The team has performed amazingly well at the home soil and are determined to prove their steel, while competing at the qualification tournament. The head coach, Sokolovskis has
put so much effort to prepare his team for the big competition and he is confident to grab success. He said, “In my opinion the team is psychologically ready for the upcoming matches and I hope that we will get results that fulfil our expectations and pay
back our efforts. We are doing everything we can to get ready and we will do the same also during the competition.”
On the other hand, Latvia’s female team will travel to Slovenia to attend the qualification tournament. The other Pool E teams from Belarus, Ukraine, Hungry, Denmark and hosts Slovenia will be on the board to stage deadly encounters. The matches will be
held in Kanal city of Slovenia.
The girls’ team is supervised by 2009 European champion and outstanding beach volleyball player Inguna Minusa. The head coach of girls’ team is also full of ambition to mount the stairs of fame by exhibiting a mind blowing performance. The assistant coach,
Aleksandra Tihovska will also be travelling with team, which will be an extra support for Latvian team.
Inguna Minusa has worked out great strategy for her team. Talking of game plan, she said: “This year we were able to organize more training camps; moreover, via the support of the Latvian Volleyball Federation, we are participating in the Latvian Open Championship
to get properly prepared for the European qualifier in Slovakia. I can say that the girls are ready to fight for the opportunity to play in the final round of the 2011 CEV Youth European Championships.”
Latvian teams are optimistic to exhibit a stellar performance in the qualification tournament. They have the potential to defeat stronger teams. Nonetheless, the world has to wait and see for the start of competitions, which will decide the best team.
