  1. There's still a good chance that they'll make the playoffs without them, they have a good record, and they have a talented team, but Longoria and Crawford are very key players for their team.  This will hurt Longoria's chances for Rookie of the Year, but he doesn't have very much competition in the AL.  The AL last year didn't have a good rookie turnout on account that Dustin Pedroia won it last year.  If Longoria was in the NL on the other hand, his injury would take him out of the race, since he'd be against Geovani Soto.

  2. i still think the rays are going to win the al east even with these two key guys injured, i just think that neither the red sox nor yankees are good enough to catch them

  3. No he's pretty much sealed the deal for the award.

  4. no! his average and the number of home runs he has now are too much for other rookies./.

  5. Pfft yes the Rays will make the play offs still. And yes Longoria still is a lock for Rookie of the year. Pfft most players would die to have numbers like longoria at their age.

  6. Reality is finaly going to set in for the Rays, they are not as good of a team as they have been playing. Red Sox  & Yankees have been cripled by injuries this year. The Rays have still only gotten a small sample of the injury bug. Problem with that b*****d is he likes to stick around. They will plumet, VERY quilkly without the two of them. I have been saying since early June the Rays will finish 3rd behind the Red Sox! Just watch what unfold over the next 2-3 weeks.

  7. This probably wont hurt the ROY chances he probably will still win it if the rays stay in first and not fall like the Mets did last year. unless alexi does something in the last 2 months he probably wont do it

  8. no

and it will all come down to the games when the rays vs the yankees and the red sox

  9. no he is the best rookie this year and yes the rays will make the playoffs

  10. If he is only out the 15 days, the Rays will still make the play-offs and the ROY should still go to Longo.  The Rays will miss his bat for sure but not as much as his glove.  They'll have to put Aywamora back to 3rd, Zobrist should play 2nd and hopefully Rocco is well enough to play everyday in the outfield.  Plus they need to light a fire under Upton.

If he's out longer than it's anybody's guess.

  11. Whether the Rays can make the playoffs will be decided heavely with the increase of divisonal games that will happen coming up.  They are fortunate to own a 4.5 game lead on the Bo Sox rite now.  Longoria's ROY is pretty much sealed i think.  No real AL rookie comes to mind to be honest.  But the missing of Crawford and Longoria will really affect their hitting side.  We'll see if the Pitching can pick up the slack and also see if BJ upton can fianlyl step up his game this season.

EDIT: Yea, Alexei is the only other AL rookie that i could think of that was even in consderation.
