  1. Not anytime soon.  Baseball isn't even going to be an Olympic sport starting in 2012!

  2. Maybe years from now when the public is more comfortable with the image of it. Right now everyone sees it as barbaric and cockfight-like. Once it spreads out a bit more (giving other countries a chance to get into it) and people really learn what it's all about will it be eligible for Olympic competion.

I think skateboarding and other such events will be integrated first.

  3. I honestly don't see it happening for a few reasons, the same ones that I gave to a similiar question about BJJ.

    1) there are sports that have been waiting a long time, that will be included before MMA.

    2) In reality the following for MMA is very small compared to many other sports.

    3) In order too be an Olympic sort it must have standerdized rules, a national and worldwide governing body, world championships and olympic qualifiers.

    4) I do not think anyones body could kep up the pace that would have to be maintained in a Olympic tournement event.

Quite honestly the UFC is the face of MMA for the most part, and many of the fighters are coc**, rude, and disrespectful, not too mention that the prsident of the UFC in order to sound tough drops the F-Bomb all the time, none of these are what the Olympics want to potray.

  4. most likely not...a bunch of tatted up angry ppl beating each other up....def not what the olympics stand for. Its better that it stays in organizations like UFC bc thats where the money/fame is at. Being in the olympics is a wonderful accomplishment, but if i ask you to name 5 olympians, you might have a little trouble. But i know you could tell me 5 mma fighters real quick. So thats where its at

  5. It used to be an olympic sport, back in the ancient 'Pankration' days. Will it be again? I believe it will, but not for a long time. People have to get past their preconceptions ( and pretensions) about the violence.

  6. its very possible  back in 2004 at the athens Olympics they almost brought it back  however it was voted down by a slight margin, if they brought it back it would be called Pankration , the rules that will be different then the ones used in the professional MMA, their will probably be no striking while on the grounded, and no punches or knees to the head, while kicks to the head while standing would be legal and probably most ground techniques would be legal as well, maybe for 2012, or 2016 they might bring it back if enough people want it

  7. hopefully

  8. It probably would not happen any time soon.  I would think something like kickboxing or sambo would be a sport sooner then MMA.  People simply take too much damage, win or lose to make it into a tournament fashion.  Just look at the old UFC.  Even in Pride, they could only go through 2 rounds before people could not go any further.

  9. Not much more violent than boxing and that is an olympic sport. I think they would add protection like in boxing (headgear) Or limit it like in Judo and Taekwondo. On second thought I hope they DON'T ever make it an olympic sport, because you'll have Olympic style gyms opening up all over and some poor guy that wants to know how to fight will end up in one training for point sparring or something like that.
